Test of Hyperdrive Planned for Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

Every once in awhile my particle physics background is useful. I wrote digital filters in grad school a for deep inelastic scattering experiment, which turned into my first “real” job on a radar project.

The MIT Technology Review has an article about how the LHC can be used to test the concept of a hyperdrive. The source paper is titled “Test of Relativistic Gravity for Propulsion at the Large Hardon Collider.”

What does this mean to project managers. The LHC is one of the largest pieces of equipment on the planet. For example “Technical and Financial Project Management Tool.”

BTW if you're looking for all the bottom up, touchy feely, self actualizing stuff being marketed as PM 2.0. This is probably not the place to see it. These projects are hard core. metal bending, concrete pouring “big science,” where everyone understands the mission, the critical nature of the work and has the skills and experience to deliver the outcome on or near the planned cost and date.

You know “project managers.”
