Our treasure find: Albergaria Pinheiros
On Day 9, 186.9 km from Lisbon, we reached Albergaria Pinheiros in Alvaiázere (R. Dr. Acúrcio Lopes 1) — and found the most special stamp of our whole walk. It's a hot-wax seal with embossed stamping, completely handmade — truly one of a kind! Pilgrim guides even call it one of the most original stamps on the Camino Portugués. Not staying there? No problem — just ask the owner politely if you can stamp your credential. Don't be shy!
Why pilgrim stamps (sellos) matter
Pilgrims carry a credential (pilgrim passport) and collect stamps — sellos — along the way at churches, albergues, cafés and town halls as proof they walked each stage. When you reach Santiago, those stamps are your 'evidence' for the Compostela certificate: at least two per day over the final 100 km (one per day before that). Every stamp is a memory — filling the booklet is honestly so satisfying!
